At 10 o'clock on the morning of 18th November, the 2018 Shanghai International Students’ Chinese Poetry Recitation Contest Final took place at Jiangwan Campus of Fudan University. Eighteen performances prepared by 12 universities and colleges in Shanghai were selected for the the final round of competition. Eventually the group performance prepared by SMU international students was awarded Excellence Prize. There were 7 students taking part in the performance and they were from Nepal, Bangladesh, etc.
The final competition consisted of three chapters. SMU’s performance “Man Jianghong (Red All Over the River)” came as the finale of the first chapter themed the Melodious Ancient Rhyme. Shi Rui from Nepal recited the famous ancient Chinese poem with high spirit and the entire performance featured typical traditional Chinese cultural elements. The performances of second and third chapters were ran by international students from other universities and colleges in Shanghai. The whole competition turned out a wonderful visual feast, showing the students’ enthusiasm of studying Chinese.
The Chinese Poetry Recitation Contest was widely participated and consisted of 4 stages of competition, namely online voting, first round, second round and the final round..There were 70 performances from 21 universities taking part in the initial online voting. SMU students overcame all difficulties and reached to the finals.
