About SMU Tianyuan Scholarship
Tianyuan Manganese Industry Group is a leading enterprise in the production of electrolytic manganese metal in the world. Under the Belt and Road initiative of China, it acquired GHANA MANGANESE COMPANY LIMITED in 2016 and became its sole and only owner. In order to better serve the local society in Ghana and practice the concept of “Work Together to Create a Community of Shared Future for Mankind”, Ningxia Tianyuan Logistics Group Co. Ltd., a subsidiary of Tianyuan Manganese Industry Group, sets up the “Tianyuan Scholarship” at Shanghai Maritime University in 2018 to sponsor outstanding international students who are enrolled SMU-RMU BLM Program students and are studying in the program, or SMU master and PhD candidates who are graduates from SMU-RMU BLM Program or excellent SMU lecturers involved in the teaching of SMU-RMU BLM Program. SMU Tianyuan Scholarship consists of “Tianyuan Undergraduate Scholoarship”, “Tianyuan Graduate Scholarship”, “Tianyuan Teacher Prize” and “Tianyuan Reserch Paper Prize”.
Tianyuan Research Paper Competition
1 Eligible competitors
The Competition for Tianyuan Research Paper Prize is open to students who:
- are now enrolled third-year students studying in SMU-RMU BLM Program;
- Or are now SMU enrolled master or PhD students who were graduates from SMU-RMU BLM Program
- have taken and passed HSK Level 2 are preferred;
- have good academic performance in SMU;
- has not violated any rules or regulations in any form;
- Ghanaian nationality preferred.
2 Requirements of the research paper submitted
- Original research which have not been published before;
- Language: in Chinese language;
- Topic: any related topic focus on logistics in Africa;
- Paper length: the main body of the paper should be of no fewer than 4000 words;
- Chinese GB reference should be followed;
- Abstract in both Chinese language and English language should be provided.
3 Prize setting
3 winners of outstanding paper prize in total;
Winner of Outstanding paper prize would be awarded RMB 5,000;
The supervisor of each winning paper would be awarded RMB 3,000.
4 Application Process
Applicants must fill in and submit the following materials:
- A hard copy of the paper submitted to Library Building B Rm 808-2 and e-version sent to email address ffhu@shmtu.edu.cn, indicating in the subject of the mail “Tianyuan Paper+student name+program+student no.”, submission deadline: 11th May, 2019;
- A copy of “Participation Form of Competition for SMU-Tianyuan Research Paper Prize” (provided by Shanghai Maritime University), submitted together with the hard copy of the paper;
- Transcript of the program the student is currently studying in;
- HSK test certificate (if have).
- Results expected to be released by middle June 2019.
