Dear Int’l Students,
In 2016, the China Ministry of Education launched an “Outstanding International Students Scholarship” program. This scholarship award was introduced in order to motivate international students to study hard and always strive to make tremendous efforts during their study period in China. Below are detailed arrangements regarding this award for your kind attention:
I. APPLICATION CRITERIA
a. Only international degree students in or above their second year of study program;
b. Excellent academic performance and high level of learning and research ability;
c. Active in any university activities or social practices and friendly attitude towardsChinese communities;
d. Applicants MUST be abiding to SMU, Shanghai government and Chinese laws;
e. All other things being equal, students with financial difficulties will be given priority.

d. Published research paper(s); proof of retrieval of articles; notification of acceptance or proof of participation in publication of monographs (other papers are not allowed to be used);

g. Other supporting documents to prove applicant’s ability.

III. APPLICATION TIMELINE
a. Students application is opened now until Friday, 6thNovember 2020 by4:00pm prompt;
b. SMU review: Friday, 6thNovember, 2020;
c. Publication of preliminary selection on IEC website;
d. SMU reports the result to CSC;
e. CSC final review;
f. Publication of CSC final result.

IV. APPLICATION PROCEDURE
NB: All Applicants must submit their application form and other supporting documents in-person to
the International Student Office (Room B 808-1) or via e-mail to yqzheng@shmtu.edu.cn before the stated deadline.
