MTCC-Asia funded by the European Union and implemented by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) had the great pleasure of receiving Ms. Petra Doubkova, Policy officer of DG Mobility & Transport (MOVE), European Commission on May 29th, 2019. Ms. Petra Doubkova visited Mulan Shiphandling Simulator Lab, Wusong Liquid Cargo Ship Mock-up and the Automatic Engine Room at Shanghai Maritime University campus before the meeting with Prof. Shi Xin, the Vice President of SMU and the Executive Director of MTCC-Asia, and Mr. Ruan Wei, the Head of MTCC-Asia.
Prof. Shi expressed his thanks to the European Union’s funding for the establishment and development of MTCC-Asia. He then demonstrated the latest progress made by the centre especially the pilot projects on uptake of the ship energy efficient technologies and operations and on ship fuel consumption data collection and reporting. He also introduced the centre’s future work plan, and analyzed the current challenges faced by MTCC-Asia. Ms. Petra Doubkova stated her impression on the achievements so far made by MTCC-Asia and indicated that the EU will continue the support for MTCC-Asia’s future development. At the same time, she encouraged the team to motivate possible resources to tackle the challenges and keep the momentum to achieve greater success for the region.
