Dr. Sun Xing, technical officer of the Project Coordination Unit (PCU), International Maritime Organization (IMO), visited MTCC-Asia recently to supervise the progress of the two pilot projects implemented by MTCC-Asia and provide guidance.
MTCC-Asia technical officers firstly briefed Dr. Sun Xing on the latest progress accomplished by MTCC-Asia, focusing on the two Pilot Projects and the preparation of the two Guidelines to be published as one of the most important outcomes of the projects. Dr. Sun Xing on behalf of PCU gave full appreciation of the efforts and achievements so far made by MTCC-Asia. Dr. Sun Xing further discussed with the technical team about the key tasks of the two projects in the near future to ensure their timely completion.
Afterwards Dr. Sun made a presentation on “Port emission assessment and reduction strategies” to MTCC-Asia postgraduate student and staff. In the presentation, Dr. Sun discussed the future development trend of ship emission reduction technology against the background of Big Data, and pointed out that researches on ship data transmission standards are very promising. Following the presentation, a Q&A session was arranged, where MTCC-Asia students and staff actively interacted with Dr. Sun discussing on the development of IMO 2050 emission standards and the challenges and difficulties currently faced by the industry.
